Current Event #1: Industrialization of China increases fragility of global food supply
This is one major negative effect of Industrialization. Industrialization consumes valuable land and resources, and in turn has caused droughts and necessary land use to be extinguished. With that said, China exports many staple crops, including the 3 major ones; rice, wheat, and corn. The world relies on these cheap, sustainable crops to consume, and with China developing so quickly, much of the land used for agriculture is being destroyed. http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2009-01/uol-ioc012109.php
Current Event #2: Urbanization, Industrialization Versus Farmers in India: an unnecessary battle
Farmers are reluctant to sell their land for the price developers are offering them. The farmers use this land to make a living and provide for their families, and therefore would price the land exceptionally high; but developers are wanting the most for their money and don't necessarily want to use the land for agricultural reasons. The land could be used for infinitely many reasons, including industrialization and or suburbinization, which is the point dvelopers are trying to make. Unfortunately, land prices have been fluctuating often in India, and there are few known solutions to this problem:
(1) a financial market based solution to this problem is possible
(2) build up agro-industrial townships within an integrated self-sustaining community setup where the farmers and their lands are incorporated as an integral part

Current Event #3: China's new industrial revolution
This is a high speed railroad in China with speeds that exceed 300 mph
This article is about the advancements of high-speed railroads in China. China will soon overtake the rest of the world combined in the amount of highspeed railroad tracks. These railroad will be going around 310 miles per hour. China hired foreign companies to work on the railroad, but the foreign companies have to share their more tecnology to the less advance Chinese companies. This is a good example of global division of labor as China supplied the manpower (about 10,000 engineers), and American companies supllied the know-how to get the job done. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-10792465
